The House is based in Wichita, Kansas City, and Nashville. The trio includes Caleb Curry-Miller, Will Morris, and Nathan Harrison.  They originally formed as “Finer Spirit” in 2016 when they were living together as teenagers in Wichita, KS. Opening for touring acts and being featured in local publications, they released their first EP “Well As You Pretend” in 2018. This was soon followed by a sister EP, “The House”, in 2021, documenting their earliest years together.

After their 2021 release, the band hit a sonic reset in their music, exchanging grandiose guitars and drums in favor of intimate, swirling production elements, tightly wrapped around acoustic guitars, chamberpop arrangements, and summery harmonies. Between 2021 and 2024, the band shared a studio space and leaned harder into their influences: Feist, Blake Mills, Arthur Russel, and Devendra Banhart. The result is music that feels like

an August night on the porch: the way the light hits, the soft hum of insects, the quiet shifting of the trees – it’s here in The House’s music. Their lush instrumentation is augmented by weightless electronics, springy electric guitars, cycling piano melodies, and washed-out effects in all sorts of proportions. While the sound evokes the humidity of a Midwest summer, the songs themselves are feathery and introspective, celebrating the beautiful and mundane alike in a warm-weather package.

Their first full-length album, “Soft Stuff” will be released in 2025 on the label Les Bonbons Electriques, an imprint of The Record Machine.
