Hall Johnson is married. Not in actuality, but instead in their lifelong commitment to each other and their music. Childhood best friends who have lived together in Austin, TX, for the past four years, Hall Johnson, has established themselves as a group looking to push the boundaries in the Lone Star state and beyond. After the band’s west coast tour got canceled due to rising omicron cases in early 2022, the group wrote and recorded ‘A Slow Descent’ their third EP and most recent release, before their debut album ‘Haymaker’ will be released via the Record Machine in May of 2023.
Haymaker, which was recorded in August of 2021 with Charles Dahlke (Sub Pop; The Brazen Youth) at Ashlawn Recording Company, the group spent almost the span of a month, perfecting their album and their relationships with one another while living on the farm with the producer. After all, being in a band for 5+ years has taught the group patience and how to pivot in times of uncertainty. When times were more certain, they had toured with internationally touring acts such as Beach Fossils, Good Morning, Lunar Vacation, and more, to name a few. While Hall Johnson has never met farmer Hall or farmer Johnson (where the group got their name from), they seek to find the two by touring extensively in search of an answer and sharing their love for music with those who can connect with it. At the end of the day, Hall Johnson is for everyone; they hope to extend their friendship with their listeners daily.
